The Stockholm paper, Svenska Dagbladct. expresses the opinion that the war may bring Communism to Germany and Scandinavia and stresses the necessity for effective strengthening of the Swedish defences, especially the naval forces. Copenhagen message states that the Danish paper, National Tidende, similarly recognises in Moscow’s advance a grave danger, not micx*cly to-the Baltic States, but to the whole of Europe, including the Western Powers; Copenhagen reports that British residents arc leaving Finland, which is anxiously awaiting the Government’s attitude towards Moscow’s march. Professor Uluot’s Government would consist chiefly of members, of the Opposition, and Avould plan to democratise Esthonian institutions, and introduce social reforms and change the foreign policy. Riga reports that a Latvian trade delegation is going to Moscow to negotiate a commercial treaty. A Rome Avireless announcement to-day reported Italy’s uneasiness. It Avas stated that either the Germans had given the Soviet a free hand or had been compelled to boAV to the Russian expansion programme. Trains filled with Polish officials, army officers and their families are proceeding to Siberia and other parts of the Soviet Empire, where, presumably, they are to be imprisoned. All property belonging to the aristocratic families has’been confiscated. A message from Moscow quotes a Tass Agency announcement that the Polish Ukraine is to elect a .National Assembly on October 22. The Assembly Avill proceed to establish a Soviet organisation and incorporate the Polish Ukraine in the Ukrainian Soviet Republic. It Avill approve of the confiscation of landed estates and their, redistribution among the peasantry.
