NO STATE ASSISTANCE
NUHAKA WATER SUPPLY ESTIMATED COST £8235 (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. Copies of a report on a proposed water supply scheme for the Nuhaka district, and a, statement that there appeared to be no prospect of Government assistance at present were received from the district engineer, Napier, at the monthly meeting of the Wairoa County Council yesterday. The report stated that the estimated cost of the scheme would 'be £8235, and the only way to finance the scheme was by means of a special loan raised by the council and the striking of a special rate to secure the loan. The council decided to write thanking the department for its report and to forward a copy both to the Wairoa dairy factory and the Nuhaka factory.
