SHEEP PRICES HOLD STEADY PIG DEMAND WESTFIELD MARKET (For moss Association.) AUCKLAND, this clay. A smaller beef entry of good quality made full late rates under a good demand at the Westfield stock sale yesterday. Extra choice ox beef made 42s per 1001 b., choice and prime 39s to 41s; prime cow and heifer beef made 37s to 40s, boner and rough 29s to 345. Extra heavy prime steers made £l7 to £lB 10s, heavy £ls to £lO 17s Gd, medium £l4 to £ls, light £l2 to £l3 15s, and unfinished £lO to £l2; extra heavy prime cows and heifers £l2 to £l3 10s, heavy £lO to £ll 15s, medium £8 to £lO 7s Gd, light £7 to £8 17s Gd, and unfinished £4 to £6 15s. There was a heavy yarding of calves., values remaining firm for prime quality but noticeably easier for plain and unfinished sorts. Runners made from £3 10s to £9 ss; heavy vealers £6 to £7 Bs, medium £5 to £6 3s, light £4 to £4 17s, smaller £3 3s to £3 lGs, small 18s to £3, bobby and rough 5s to 3Gs. There was a steady demand for an average pig yarding at full late rates. Choppers made from £1 10s to £4 15s, heavy baconers £3 18s to £4 13s, medium £3 11s to £3 lGs, light £3 3s to £3 8s; heavy porkers £2 14s to £3 ss. medium £2 8s to £2 lGs, light £2 to £2 9s, smaller £1 14s to £2 4s; stores 34s to 465; slips 27s to 325; weaners 15s to 28s; sows due to farrow £3 10s to £5 10s. Baconers averaged Gjd per lb., and porkers 7d to 71d per lb. For a larger yarding of sheep competition was good and values firm at late rates, except for wethers, which were a shade easier. Extra heavy prime wethers, wooliy 38s to 41s Gd, shorn 30s to 33s 9d; heavy 35s to 395, medium 32s to 355, light 26s to 35s 9d; extra heavy prime ewes, woolly, 28s to 38s: shorn 25s\ to 335, heavy 27s to 445. medium 24s to 29s Gd, light 17s to 255; extra heavy prime woolly hoggets 30s to 365, heavy 25s Gd to 30s. medium 22s to 25s 9d, light 19s to 22s 9d, small and plain 12s Gd to 17s. Heavy prime spring lambs made 30s to 34s 3d. medium 2Gs to 29s Gd, light 20s to 27s Gd.
