PUPILS ON HORSEBACK RIDING TO SCHOOL Spur Pri»Bs Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Education, tho Hon. P. Fraser, announced yesterday that the Cabinet had decided’to extend the present system of conveyance of school children to include the payment of an allowance where the children are required to travel long distances to school on horseback. The Minister said that hitherto horseback riding had been excluded from the payment of an allowance except, where roads were non-existent or especially difficult or dangerous. The approval now given, he said, would entitle all children under 10 years of age travelling on horseback for distances exceeding two miles and all children 10 years or over riding three miles or more to payment of the allowance. Thfe decision will take effect as from the beginning of February, 1940,
