Pretty Wedding
Sargent—Baty Selling of Spring Flowers Artistically decorated by relatives of the bride with a wealth of spring flowers, the Bright Street Methodist Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday evening, when Eva Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Baty, Tiniroto, was married to Sydney Edward, son of Mrs. Sargent and the late Mr. H. E. Sargent, Patutahi. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. E. Leadley. ✓ The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a frock of shell pink slipper satin. The simply cut bodice, showing long sleeves, was fastened down the back with tiny satin buttons and loops, and the flared skirt swept into a graceful train. Her filmy veil of pink tulle was caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossom, and her exquisite bouquet was composed of sweet peas, tulips and roses in delicate shades of pink. The bride was attended by Miss i Nora Cooper, wearing a picture frock of powder blue georgette, accented with touches of gauging at the waist and neckline, and a coatee to match. Blue roses made an attractive headdress, and a bouquet of mixed flowers in contrasting shades of blue was carried. • The two little flower girls, Dawn Harvey and Elizabeth Longdill, were frocked alike in powder blue georgette and carried Victorian posies of primroses. Mr. T. J. L. Baty, brother of the bride, was best man. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by her cousin, little Yvonne Harvey. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold pendant, and to the bridesmaid a crystal necklace, the flower girls receiving a gold armlet and silver table napkin ring, respectively. After the ceremony a delightful, reception was held at Messrs. Findlay’s tea-rooms. Ri'ide’s Parents Wedding Anniversary During the evening congratulations were tendered to Mr. and Mrs. Baty, of the bride, whose silver wedding anniversary coincided with the occasion, and the opportunity was taken by the members of their family, together with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Harvey, Wairoa, of presenting them with a handsome wedding cake, the gift being a complete surprise. The music for dancing was supplied by Baty Bros.’ orchestra, and Miss O. Baty, a cousin of the bride, contributed an extra. The bride and bridegroom left later for their honeymoon, which is to be spent in Rotorua, the bride travelling in a smart navy blue pin-striped suit worn with a pink blouse and a navy hat. A navy tailored coat and matching accessories completed the ensemble. Mrs. Baty, mother of the bride, was wearing an elegant navy blue ensemble, with a hat to match, and navy accessories.
