OBITUARY

The death has occurred of Mrs, A. E. Armitage, ,a well-known Auckland resident;-,at the age of 78. Mrs. Armitage , was born in Newfoundland, where her father, the Rev. J. Waterhouse, was a Methodist missionary. Mr. Charles Downie, a pioneer of tlie West Coast, and familiarly known as “the grand old man” of the Buller district, has died, aged 96,. Mr, Bownie . spent practically a lifetime in Murchison.

The death has occurred in Hamilton of Mrs. Albina Breen, aged 93 widow, of the late Mr. Peter Breen. Mrs. Breen was born in Kerry, Ireland, and she came to New Zealand with her husband 70 years ago. For 66 years they lived at Oamaru.
