HOCKEY DECISION AUCKLAND AND NAPIER ROSE BOWL PROTEST AWARDED TO HINENUI All trips scheduled by the Poverty Bay Hockey Association’s team.for the present month have beer cancelled, in view of the outbreak of war and the uncertainty of transport arrangements. This decision was reached at a meeting of the management committee last night, and covers the proposed visit to Auckland by the men’s representative team in quest of the New Zealand Challenge Shield or September 23, the proposed trip by a colts’ team to Napier next Saturday, and visits by Wairoa club teams to Gisborne next Saturday. In regard to the proposed visits from Wairoa clubs, Hinenui and Muriwai clubs, who were to play the visitors, reported that it would not be convenient to play now, and it was decided to ask the Wairoa clubs concerned to cancel the arrangements. The Hinenui Club entered a protest against Waituhi in the Haapu Rose Bowl match last Saturday, claiming that the Waituhi team included a player who was not eligible. The match had been won by Waituhi, and the association upheld the protest, awarding the game to Hinenui, who also were declared the winners of the Rose Bowl for the season. Mr. H. K. Swan, manager of the women’s representative team at the New Zealand tournament in Blenheim, submitted a report, and spoke of the hospitality extended to the players. The secretary was instructed tc thank Mr. T. Turbitt, Blenheim, for his assistance to the Poverty Bay visitors during tile tournament, the Blenheim Hockey Association for the arrangements made for the visitors, and the Wairoa Hockey Club for entertaining the team in Wairoa. It was decided also that the men’s A and B grade and women’s A grade games should be continued on Saturday and that friendly games should be arranged for the women’s B section. Draw for Saturday The draw for next Saturday was arranged as follows: Men’s Senior A Grade. —Foresters A v. Foresters B, No. 3 ground. 2.15 p.m.; Y.M.C.A v. Waituhi. No. 1. 3.15 p.m.; Caledonian, a bye. Senior B Grade. —High School B v. High School A. No. 2 ground, 1.15 p.m.; Wesleyan v. Muriwai, No. 2, 3.15 p.m. Women’s A Section. —Kai Toa v. Mahaki, No 1 ground. 2.15 p.m.; Hinenui v. Te Karaka, No. 2, 2.15 p.m. Women’s B Section—Waituhi v. Old Girls, No. 1 ground, 1.15 p.m.; Awapuni v. Y.M.P., No. 3, 2.15 p.m; Kia Toa, a bye.
