MOTORIST FINED

COLLISION AFTERMATH RIGHT-HAND RULE BREACH Arising out of a collision at the intersection of Gladstone road and Lowe street, a motorist, Jack Mastrovitch, appeared before Mr. J. IT. Luxford, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, charged with failing to give way to traffic on his right and also with having no warrant of fitness for his motor vehicle. The defendant was represented by Mr. J. de V. W. Blathwayt. Charles Emil Hindrupp, a milkvendor and the driver of the second vehicle involved in the collision, and Constables R. Julian and G. A. McCurrach gave evidence on behalf of the police, for whom Senior-Sergeant J. F. H. Macnamara was the prosecutor. In his evidence the defendant said that he had kept a proper look-out and also that the other driver had been speeding. His car had been wrecked and had to be scrapped after the collision. His Worshop said that the obligation was on a driver to look to his right before passing an intersection. The speed of the van driven by Hindrupp apparently contributed -to the mishap, but the onus was on all drivers to keep a proper look-out. The defendant was convicted and fined £1 on the charge of failing to give way to traffic on his right and on the second charge was convicted and discharged.
