OBITUARY
MRS. GORDON STEELE NUHAKA RESIDENT The death occurred suddenly in Gisborne yesterday afternoon of Mrs. Gordon Steele, aged 48, of Nuhaka. The deceased was born in England and came to Gisborne li few years before the Great War, Following her marriage 20 years ago she made her home at Omana soldier settlement, in the Nuhaka district. Mrs. Steele had been ill for some time, but had been a patient in hospital in Gisborne only since Saturday. Of a quiet and unassuming nature, she took an active interest in affairs in Nuhaka, being a past president of the Nuhaka Women’s Institute and a member of the Anglican Guild. She had taken an active part, too, in the Girls’ Brigade To Mr. Gordon Steele and the three children, .Misses Gretta and Pat Steele and Master Peter Steele, is extended the deepest sympathy of a large number of friends, and alsi? to Mrs. Harry George, Gisborne, and Mr. Phil Power, Opotiki, the deceased’s sister and brother. The funeral will take place at Morere at 2 p.m. to-morrow.

The death occurred in Wellington on Saturday of Mr. H. R. Woon, who was well known in the newspaper world 20 years ago. He was on the staff of the New Zealand Times ancl the Manawatu Daily Times as sporting writer under the nom-de-plume of Angus. He was proprietor in conjunction with the Messrs. Hayward of the picture business in Palmerston North in the old Alexandria Hall Mi - . Woon was also a councillor in Palmerston North. In his younger days he was one of the leading half-mile and mile runners in New Zealand.
