GISBORNE HORSES ENTERED FOR AVONDALE X.Z. CUP NOMINATIONS LOG’A L REPRESENTATIVES 15y “Trenton” Three Gisborne horses. Gold Ballad, Gay Mimic, and Sly Fox have been handicapped for the Avondale Cup. The first two, together with Blonde Princess, also figure in the open sprint. Blonde Princess is on the minimum and the other pair each have 7.1. Mr. E. Fitzgerald's Vnladore colt, which lias been named Kindergarten, is engaged in the Avondale Stakes on the opening day and the Nursery Handicap on the second day. New Zealand Cup Gay Mimic, Sly Fox and Raana arc the Gisborne horses which figure among the nominations l'or the New Zealand Cup. This year's entries total G 9, compared with 56 last year. H. Paul, has left Washdyke on route for Sydney, says a southern writer. The programme mapped out for the Lord Warden colt includes the A.J.C. and Victorian Derbies. He has an engagement also in the Melbourne Cup, but no decision regarding that race is likely to be made until it is seen how he shapes in (he classics. A. E. Ellis will ride Gold Salute when arrangements permit. In Regular Work The aged gelding Gay Broney has commenced regular work at Ellerslie under the supervision of her owner. Mr. J. D. Kemp. Although carrying a lot of surplus condition. Gay Broney is as lively as ever, but it will be some time before she is ready to race. Gay Rose Retired Gay Rose has finished her racing career and has been sent to Rotorua on a visit to Chatswortli. Gay Rose won £4650 in stakes.
