AFFAIRS OF OVER ANA, LTD
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In an urgent question addressed to the Attorney-iCfeneral, the Hon. H. G. It; Mason, in thg, Rouse of Representatives yesterday, afternoon,r Mr. A. F. Moncur ; (Lab., Rotorua) saidk that in 1934 the report of the pompanies Commission presented to Parliament alleged that the Qverana Land Company, Limited, a- private company consisting of. Mr. and Mrs. M.. H. Harnpson, Rotorua, was one of a group of companies controlled by J. W. S. McArthur, and the affairs of the company were, for that reason, subsequently ordered to be investigated. In view of the publicity given to this matter in the House and the country, Mr. Moncur asked whether the Government would give like publicity to the result of the investigation and indicate whether it in any way cast a slur on the professional reputation of Mr. Harnpson, who was a well-known barrister and solicitor of many years’ standing. In reply, Mr. Mason said he could say definitely that the investigation of the affairs of Overana, Limited, did not establish that the Hampson’s company belonged to the. McArthur group. Mr. Mason added that no slur on the professional reputation of Mr. Harnpson resulted from the investigation of the affairs of Overana, Limited.
