A British Airways liner made a forced landing at Luxeuil, France, today after catching fire. The nine passengers escaped.
The Luxeuil correspondent of the British United Press says that five British men and four women passengers owed their lives to the resource of the Heston airport pilot, Captain D. Prowse, when the liner, which was flying from Croydon to Zurich, caught fire at a height of 3000 ft.
Nobody showed panic though the flames enwrapped the cockpit and penetrated to the cabin. The passengers remained seated . Captain Prowse put the machine into a steep dive and landed in the field at 120 miles an hour, smashing the undercarriage. The crew jumped out ancl handed the passengers to safety. All the baggage was burned.
