NOW ESTABLISHED

TROOPS IN WAIROA E.C. MOUNTED RIFLES (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. No difficulty has (been experienced in securing sufficient young men to complete the complement of the W-airoa troop of the Wellington-East Coast .Mounted 'Rifles, and with the issue of uniforms, rifles an’d other equipment to 28 members on Thursday evening, the troop is now fully established. The squadron .comprises three troops, one in Wairoa, Tolaga 'Bay and Gisborne, and in addition there is a signalling troop 'attached to headquarters at Gisborne. The complement of the Wairoa troop numbers 36. The issuing of the uniforms and equipment Was undertaken by Sergeant-Major S'tie'hbury, Gisborne, and W. Sainsibury has been appointed squadron trumpeter. Eleven members of the troop left by the 11.40 a.m. railcar to-day to participate in a week's recruiting course at Trentham, and they 'were joined by three men from Gisborne. The remaining members of the Wairoa troop will go to Trentham on September 2 to go through their recruit training course. A 10 days’ camp will take place in April or May next, when the whole regiment will Ibe, mobilised, but in the meantime it is the intention of the Defence Department to hold two or three bivouac camps in addition to evening and, possibly. half-day parades. Town and Country Represented It is clearly shown from the list of those who have joined up with the troop that both the town and the country districts are well represented, there being recruits from Ohuka, Ardkeen, Ruakituri, Wai'hua, Mo'haka, Turiroa, Opoiti and the Wairoa Borough.
