Captain G. A. Nairn, of Messrs. Richardson and Company, Limited, Napier, has retired after approximately 50 years’ service on the East Coast. During that period Captain Nairn, who is well known on the Gisborne waterfront, has beep, in charge of practically every vessel in the Richardson Company’s fleet, and has travelled extensively along the East Coast in the company's service. Among his numerous charges' were the Fanny, the Squall, Ripple and Kiritona. Captain Nairn has commanded vessels for the company since 1914, and shortly he will be celebrating his seventieth birthday.
