GROUP TRAVEL SCHEME
SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION cmn.STCiirKrii .meeting (TYr Press Association.) TIIVTARU. this day. The group travel movement which originated in Timaru with the idea of encouraging people to see the beauties of their own country has made considerable progress in recent months. Large numbers of tours to various parts of the South Island have been conducted.
A Group Travel -Association has been formed and it is hoped tho scheme will be further extended io the co-operation of the district councils of .physical welfare in the South Island, employers' associations, .manufacturers' associations, .chambers of commerce and tourist arm travel interests.
Representatives of these organisations have beer; invited to meet the Minister of Internal Adairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, who sees in the scheme one of the best means of achieving the objectives of the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act. A conference will be held in Christchurch on August 3, when the scheme will no officially inaugurated.
