COUNTY CRICKET FEAT RAIN SPOILS ROUND FOUR GAMES ABANDONED SOME SURPRISE RESULTS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Julv 19, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON. July 18. Rain seriously interfered with most of the county cricket games which wore scheduled to be completed today. Four matches were abandoned, three of them without one innings 'being played.

The outstanding exception to this inactivity was the bright batting performance of Keeton, who put on 312 runs for Notts against Middlesex, and even then was unbeaten. In reply to Notts’ SGO for nine wickets, Middlesex in the first made only 119, Voce taking seven wickets for 70 runs, and despite a better showing in the second were beaten 'by an innings and 190.

The only other century in county games was 123 not out 'by Nelson for Northants, who downed Sussex on the first innings. Playing for the Navy, Stephenson made 101.

This week's results will affect the positions of several of the teams. Surrey going under to Essex and Kent defeating Gloucester. Matches commeaced on Saturday resulted as follows: —

Notts in the first innings ran up SGO for nine and declared (Keeton 312 not out. Heane 88). Middlesex in the first made 119 (Vcce, seven for 70), and followed on to score 251. Notts wen by an innings and 190 runs. Derby in the first lost six for 208 in the match against Yorkshire, which was abandoned.

Surrey’s first yielded 285 (Nichols, five for 79), and the second 100 (P. Smith, seven for 47). Essex in the first made 361 (Eastman 99, Nichols 93). la the second they made 27 without ioss. Essex won by 10 wickets. Glamorgan in the first made 157 (Baring, five for 27). Hampshire in the first lost two for 22, the game being abandoned. Kent in the first scored 182 (Fagg 77; Scott, five for 86).. and in the second 189 (Ames 79; Sinfield, four for 12), Gloucester in the first made 170 and in the second 103 (Wright, six for 20). Kent won by 98 runs.

Lancashire in the first had lost two for 181 versus Somerset when the game was abandoned. Northants in the first compiled 334 (Nelson 123 not out). In the second they lost five for 110. Sussex in the first made 310 (Bartlett 81; Timms, six for 57). Northaats won on the first innings. Leicester in the first had lost one for 39 versus Worcester when the match was abandoned. Air Force in the first made 302 for eight and declared (Cruickshank 90), and in the second lost six for 18G (Cruickshank 70 not out). Navy in the first made 301 (Stephenson 101) Aii’ Force won on the first innings.
