MR HOLYOAKE HAS LUNCH WITH MR AND MRS CHURCHILL

LONDON, October 2.—When Mrs Winston Churchill visited New Zealand in 1933 on a private pleasure cruise she unsuccessfully—and probably illegally—tried to bring back with her two specimens of New Zealand tuataras. Mrs Churchill smilingly admitted this to New Zealand’s Deputy-Prime Minister (Mr K. J. Holyoake) when he lunched with Mr and Mrs Churchill at Chartwell.

After lunch, Mr Churchill showed Mr Holyoake over the house and grounds, and before he left presented him with autographed copies of the three published volumes of his war memoirs.

In the evening, Mr Holyoake was the guest at dinner of the Commonwealth Secretary, Mr Patrick Gor-don-Walker. The Minister and his private secretary, Mr R. Steele left this evening by air for New York, where Mr Holyoake will briefly attend sittings of the United Nations General Assembly. Mr Holyoake expects to be back ir. Wellington on October 8.
