Public Trust Business
Estates to the value of £836,341 were accepted for administration by the Public Trustee during August. New business for the five months ended August 31 was £3,578,434. Grants of administration made by the court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 254 for the month. During the month 752 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were prepared and 659 existing wills were revised. Timber Workers’ Jubileei Today marks the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of Southland Timber; Workers’ Union, one of the pioneer New Zealand Unions and also the retirement of Mr T. F. O’Byrne, M.L.C., from the office of secretary. Mr O’Byrne has occupied the office for 44 years. This. is, possibly, a Dominion record in union circles. The anniversary will be celebrated in Invercargill and former members and also unionists from all over New Zealand will be present.—(P.A.)
