MEAT SUPPLIES TO BE FLOWN TO FIJI

AUCKLAND, This Day (P.A.).— “A flying butcher’s shop” will leave Auckland for Fiji at 12.30 p.m. tomorrow. Stacked aboard “the shop”— a Tasman Empire Airways Solent flying boat —will be two and a-half tons of fresh beef, mutton and pork. It is being flown to the islands to relieve one of the frequent fresh meat shortages caused by inadequate refrigerated space in Suva. Regular “beefless” days have been ordered by the governor. The big scale carriage of meat by air from New Zealand to Fiji may become a regular service. If required the flying boats could take even bigger consignments than tfiat- leaving tomorrow.
