PRECIOUS METAL FOR RANGITIKEI HUNT STEEPLES

Precious Metal, who finished a close second to Norfolk Boy in the steeple-! chase at Manawatu last Saturday, will probably'be an improved horse tomorrow in the Winter Steeples at the Rangitikei Racing Club’s meeting. A safe jumper, Precious Metal should do good service for his owner-trainer in minor steeplechase events. CASH ORDER IS A PROSPECT IN WINTER STEEPLES

Run over three miles, the Winter Steeplechase to be decided at the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s meeting tomorrow is a solid test .of stamina and jumping. Favouritism may be disputed by Cash Order and Forest Ranger, with The Trader another likely runner. Cash Order stays on particularly well and his stamina might carry him to victory, as few of the other runners have any credentials over this distance. Main flat race is the President’s Handicap, run over a mile and a-quarter. Beau Pari will appreciate the smaller track, and the Beau Repaire galloper should be prominent. Grand Shepherd and Tactful Lad are other useful gallopers in the even field.
