Railways’ Coal Supplies
In spite of the Waikato colliery strike, the Railways Department has ample supplies of coal. This was indicated by the General Manager of Railways (Mr F. W. Aickin) yesterday. “We have ample supplies, particularly because of regular imports from South Africa,” Mr Aickin said. “This is coal that will keep, not like New Zealand coal.” Mr Aickin added that he had not considered whether the Waikato strike would cause any curtailment in rail services.—(P.A.)
