OIL FIRE ON TRAWLER AT WELLINGTON
WELLINGTON. This Day (P.A.). There were fires on two ships in Port Wellington yesterday. Terry Baker, aged 17, a seaman, was overcome by fumes from an oil fire in the trawler Maimai. He was taken to hospital and is progressing satislactorily. The boiler-room filled with dense smoke when waste oil in the bilges caught alight. The outbreak was suppressed by the Wellington Fire Brigade and there was no damage.. The other fire was among mail m the hold of the inter-island ferry steamer Wahine.
