Aluminium Sprigs
There is no definite ruling as to ■whether or not the use of aluminium sprigs is permitted in Rugby Union matches. This was disclosed at this week’s meeting of the West Coast Rugby Union when a request for a ruling on the matter was received from the Westland Sub-Union. It was decided to advise the sub-union that, although the use of aluminium sprigs was not officially acknowledged by the New Zealand Rugby Union, their use was allowed by the West Coast Rugby Union. The referees’ delegate, Mr M. R. Bunt, pointed out that his association made periodical inspections of all sprigs and disallowed any that were in a dangerous; condition.
