BERLIN, June 22 (Rec. 10 a.m.). —Russian aid had “laid the foundation stone for the reemergence of German national sovereignty,” the East German President, Dr Otto Grotewohl, declared today in a statement commemorating the ninth anniversary of Hitler’s attack on Russia. . , “The victory of the Soviet Army over Hitlerite barbarism opened a new chapter in German history,” he said. The East German Government in its anniversary statement said: “Piratical Hitler Fascism has been succeeded by equally piratical Anglo-American imperialism, seeking to conquer the world and force our people into a new June 22.” In Moscow, Pravda, the official Communist organ, commented: “New claimants to world supremacy 'would be well advised to mind the ignominous end of their Fascist predecessors.” Russia had beaten Germany single-handed, said Pravda.
