Mr A. L. McKay returned on Thursday from a visit to Australia. Mr and Mrs N. Payne left this ’morning on return to Lyttelton. Mrs R. Reed left by the express this morning on return to Christchurch. Mrs C. Beaumont, of Christchurch, left on return this morning. Mrs F. Clarke left by this morning’s express on return to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs J. Rodgers, of Taylorville, have left for the North Island on holiday. Mrs Breauhant, of Timaru, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs Clarke, of Dobson, has left on return. Miss M. Jackson, who has been Visiting relatives in Greymouth, left this morning on return to Christchurch. A motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr J. Boddy, a former employee, was carried at last evening’s meeting of the Grey Electric Power Board, members standing in silence as a mark of respect. The appointment of Mr G. L. Seator to the teaching staff of the Blaketown School was confirmed by the Canterbury Education Board at its monthly meeting. Mr A. C. Upjohn has been appointed 'to the Kokatahi School. The Most Rev. Edward Michael Joyce will be consecrated the fourth Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch, on Sunday, July 16. The consecrating prelate will be the Coadjutor Archbishop of Wellington (Archbishop McKeefry) and will be assisted as co-consecrators by Bishop Liston, of Auckland, and Bishop Kavanagh, of Dunedin.—(P.
