OTAGO WINS SENIOR BASEBALL TITLE

VZESTPORT, March 10.—The New Zealand women’s baseball championship tournament, which concluded at Westport today, was one of the most successful ever held, according to officials of the New Zealand Association. This was the first occasion that such a tournament has been held at Westport.

With eight wins and one loss, Otago won the senior grade title. Canterbury was runner-up, with two losses, both to Otago. The senior B grade title was won by Southland, which lost only one game during the tournament. The junior grade title was won by Canterbury. The match today between Canterbury and Otago in the senior grade was a splendid game. At the end of seven innings each, the score was 9-all. An extra innings was played by each team, Canterbury scoring one home run. Otago failed to score any further points.
