FINALLY TONIGHT: “Guns of Hate and “My Dog Rusty.” Commencing Tomorrow: “Calamity Jane and Sam Bass,” starring Yvonne de Carlo and Howard Duff. Based on the exploits of the two western outlaws who were notorious about the 1870’s, “Calamity Jane and Sam Bass,” with Yvonne de Carlo and Howard Duff in leading roles and commencing at the Opera House to'morrow combines historical characters and romance to good advantage. Sam Bass, goes from Indiana to Texas where he meets Calamity Jane, and Kathy Egan. A short time later, Sam’s horse is poisoned in a race, and he shoots the killer, - then flees with some pals to the hills. Later, Kathy urges Sam to give himself up and stand trial. He and ms men turn themselves in to her brother, Sheriff Will Egan, before realising the trial is framed to hang them ah. Calamity rescues them from jail, and the gang starts a series of hold-ups climaxed by the robbery of the Round Rock bank. They grow up together encounter two unscrupulous traders and eventually fall in love with each other,. Their baby son is born during a violent hurricane. Only then, with a new life to consider, do they decide to set sail in their small dinghy, in search of the civilised beyond the reef.
