JAPANESE POLICE HAVE BEEN REARMED
TOKIO, February 15 (Rec. 11.30 a . m .) —The police force, with recent improvements in its arms equipment is back to pre-war strength, the Japanese Attorney-General, Mr Shunkichi Ueda told the Diet today. Mr Ueda said Japan would not increase her police force above the present 125,000 after the occupation. “We are depending on the courage and loyalty of the Japanese people, plus the present police force, to cope with any national emergency,” he said. „ . , The Japanese police force last month was equipped with over 100,000 old American army revolvers and Sam Brown belts.
