Alleged Smuggling Of Revolvers Into Siam

BANGKOK, January 30.—Ten thousand Colt revolvers which were allegedly being smuggled into Siam for the Communist underground movement were seized by the authorities last night on a Bangkok river wharf. The revolvers were recovered from cases shipped to Bangkok from Hong Kong. The majority of the cases had been passed by Customs inspectors fcr removal from the wharf when an official smashed one of them open. New revolvers in their factory packings tumbled out. It is learned from authoritative sources in Bangkok that the consignees were a group of prominent Bangkok merchants, most of whom are reported to have fled from the city.
