CRICKET RECORD PARTNERSHIP FOR FIRST WICKET
NEW DELHI, November 11 (Rec. 11.10 a.m.) .—The Australian captain oi the Commonwealth cricket team, Jock Livingston, and the Englishman, Norman Oldfield, put on a record partnership of 226 for the first wicket against India in the first unofficial test today. This was the highest first wicket partnership by any visiting team m India. India’s bowling- was innocuous on a wicket which was ideal for run-getting and the Indian fielding was weak. Four chances were dropped, both Livingston and Oldfield having two lives. The scores were:— . Commonwealth Team, first innings. Livingston, b Phadkar 123; Oldfield, not out, 110; Ailey, b Nayudu, 44; sundries 7; total for two wickets, 284. Bowling: Phadkar, 1 for 79; Nazare, 0 for 45; Umrigar, 0 for 20; Gaekwad, 0 for 45; Nayudu, L for 61; Sarwate, 0 for 15; Adhikuri, 0 for 12.
