MR VYSHINSKY MAKES STRONG PLEA FOR PEACE

NEW YORK, November 10 (Rec. 11 a.m.). —Instead of reading a prepared speech berating the American plans for world dominion, as expected, Mr Vyshinsky, addressing the National Council of American Soviet Friendship in New York, made a strong plea for peace. He said: “We stand for peace and equality between the nations and Socialism.”

Noling that it was the sixteenth anniversary of Soviet-American, relations, Mr Vyshinsky said: “It is an important friendship, because friendly relations between these two countries is the best guarantee of peace throughout the world. We appreciate your efforts to prevent the disruption of that friendship.” He added that the Soviet delegated had attended the current session of the United Nations Assembly “to prove that mankind wants peace, that all people all over the world hate war and want it killed at the very beginning.” Mr Vyshinsky spoke for 70 minutes in a jovial and suave manner. The Council of American Soviet Friendship is on the United States Government’s list of subversive organisations.
