MINERS TO HOLD BALLOT IN HUNTLY DISPUTE
AUCKLAND, November 8 (P.A.) —The third mass meeting of miners in the Huntly town hall today decicled J to hold a secret ballot on the next step to be taken in a dispute over the rate of pav for miners trucking their own coal. This dispute originated at the Renown mine in the middle of September when the mine was idle for six days. All the mam mines, underground and open-cast, in the Huntly district were idle today, but it is expected work will begin again tomorrow. The loss of coal production because of the series of mass meetings was brought today to more than 10,000 tons.
Only about 300 out of 1500 miners in the Huntly district attended today’s meeting, which lasted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No statement was made by the union as to what was discussed or decided. ;
