American Wool Market
Whether devaluation would mean lower wool prices would not be known for an'other month, said American manufacturers and dealers today. On the basis of development in Australia since the devaluation of the currency was announced, it seemed that an'upward price spiral had started. However, it would be two or three weeks before fine wools appeared on the Australian market. Not until then would it be possible to assess the world trend in prices. Some manufacturers and dealers said they were worried about Europeans who had bought heavily last year. With devalued currencies or sterling credits, they might be even heavier buyers this year.—New York, September 20.
