REEFTON NO ALTERATION IN DATE OF SPORTS MEETING
REEFTON, This Day (O.C.).—Advice that the West Coast centre had allocated it the date chosen by the club for its annual fixture was received at a meeting of the committee of the Reefton Amalgamated Sports Club.
The Slatey Creek-Moonlight Sports Club wrote asking that the Reefton Club should choose an alternative date for the meeting, as the Moonlight Club had chosen February 4, 1950. In view of.the Reefton Club’s date being allocated by the West Coast Centre, it was decided to adhere to the date selected and to advise the Moonlight Sports Club that no change in the date could be made. * A successful drive for cluJ? membership was reported by the secretary. Arrangements were made for the club’s forthcoming smoke concert. Mr A. Topp, who presided, reported on the annual meeting of the West Coast Athletic Centre. It was decided that the committee should meet again in four weeks’ time, when a start will be made on preparing the programme for the sports meeting. CROQUET CLUB’S MEETING At the annual meeting of the Reefton Croquet Club the following officers/ were elected for the 1949-50 season:—Patron, Mr F. W. Archer (re-elected); president, Mrs H. Skelton; vice-president, Mrs A. Palmer; club captain, Mr W. Hannah; secretary, Mrs F. W. Marshall; committee, Mesdames Fielding Hay, Porter, Millar and Rosanowski. A satisfactory balance sheet was submitted by the retiring secretary, Mrs P. Lord, and votes of thanks were accorded Mesdames Palmer and Lord for their work as president and secretary respectively. It was decided to hold the official opening of the season on z October 15.
