GREY AERO CLUB SOCIAL EVENING
A revival of the social evenings, which were a feature of Aero Club activities at Greymouth before the war, took place in the Greymouth Aero club’s rooms at the aerodrome last evening. There was an attendance of 50, including the local squadron of the Air Training Corps. The feature of the evening was a programme of films, including a “short” on flying activities in Normandy after the invasion, and a feature film. There were two visiting aircraft as well as the United Aero Club’s two,- machines on the tarmac. One was Messrs Nolan brothers’ plane from Okuru in South Westland, and the other a Canterbury Aero Club machine piloted by Mr W. Waltho. It was decided to hold bombing and landing competitions at the week-end. The bombing competition will be to land flour bags within a restricted circle, and the object of the landing competition will be to land nearest to a fixed spot. The president of the Greymouth Aero Club, Mr D. J. Scott, welcomed those present, and after the films were was served in the club rooms'by the ladies committee.
