SHARP UPWARD TREND IN BANKRUPTCIES IN WELLINGTON AREA
WELLINGTON, Sept. 1 ((P.A.).— Bankruptcies in Wellington are showing a sharp upward trend. For the first eight months of this year 20 petitions in bankruptcy have been filed at Wellington. This is an increase of seven on the corresponding period last year. There were two bankruptcies last month.
Petitions have been filed by persons in a wide range of occupations. No one occupation or calling dominates the list. Last year builders and men associated with the building trade formed a substantial number of the bankrupts. Two cooks, two company directors, a land and estate agent, an insurance agent, two car salesmen, and a typist are among the persons who have been declared bankrupt this year.
