ONE OF THE LARGEST POWER DAMS in Central Europe, under construction at Kaprun, Austria, is scheduled for completion in 1950. This picture shows the dam under construction. It has now reached a height of 60 metres and when completed will be 120 metres high and 354 metres long. A power station being built near the dam will have a capacity of 600,000,000 kilowatt hours a year. The lake behind the dam will contain more than cubic metres of water. The project has been possible largely through the aid of Marshall Plan counterpart funds. Kaprun is situated in the United States zone of Austria.
