Russia Classed Willi Backward Countries
NEW YORK, .August 20.—The New.: York Times today published a report by Dr Colin Clark, an Australian Government -economist, saying that the United States’ productivity was eight and one-half times greater than the Soviet Union’s. This is based on his research into national pi’bducticn covering 40 countries. Dr. Clark said Russia’s productivity was low enough to place her in a class with backward countries of
Eastern Europe such as Hungary. Jugoslavia, and Rumania. The United States, New Zealand and Canada led the world, with Australia and Britain just behind them.
