Proposed Hall At Gladstone
TENDERS HAVE BEEN. CALLED by the Gladstone District Physical Welfare and Recreation Society for the construction of a new hall to replace the buiding which was destroyed by fire last year. An architect’s drawing of the proposed building is shown above. The hall, which has been designed for a community centre, will be erected on the site of the old .building, and. work is at present in progress clearing and preparing the site prior to the commencement of work. The new building will be constructed in timber with a modern style of architecture throughout. All weather boards will be stained and the finishing wood work will be in white. Lighting will be recessed to allow the hall to be used for badminton and basketball. The floor area will provide comfortable dancing space for 175 couples and the supper room will accommodate 350 people in three sittings. A modern kitchen layout will also be / 'incorporated to provide quick service.
