BULLER RETAINS THE SEDDON SHIELD

In the third match for the Seddon Shield played at Westport this season; Buller was again successful in retaining the trophy when it beat the Nelson, team by 12 points to 6, in a game which was devoid of spectacular play, on Victoria square, before an attendance of ■ about 2500. The weather was fine and the ground was in good order following overnight rain. , The Buller team failed to display the dash which it showed in the Ranfurly Shield match played recently, against Otago at Dunedin, and it was only iri spasms that it combined in movements which the challengers failed to cope with. At half-time the score was Buller 6, Nelson 6, all the points coming from penalty goals. J. Tait kicked the goals for Nelson, and A. Neighbours for Buller. In "the second spell two unconverted tries were scored by Buffer, one by M. Ryan and the other by A. Cummings. Mr E. M. Wpodhead was the referee.
