LONDON, August 19 (Rec 11 a.m.) —Durham started the day 329 behind the New Zealanders’ first innings score with eight wickets in hand, but were soon in. difficulties against the bowling of Cowie and Burke, and the innings closed at 171. Following on, Durham began promisingly but at the tea interval they still required 6G runs to avoid an innings defeat. Herbert was caught off the last ball of the game with Durham 34' runs ahead and the match ended in a draw. '
