600 Workers Dismissed From Tractor Factory

- LONDON, August 19—The Standard Motor Company announced yesterday the dismissal of 600 workers from the tractor branch of its Coventry works. The workers were told at a mass meeting that the dismissals would continue at the rate of 150 a week.

Sir John Black, the managing-dir-ector, said that currency difficulties made the dismissals necessary. He said: “There is a sterling hold-up in London.” He added that a reduction of the output of tractors was bound to affect firms supplying raw materials.
