Red Cross Appeal The street appeal conducted at Greymouth yesterday resulted in approximately £l5O being raised for the funds of the Greymouth branch of the Red Cross Society.

New Hokitika Sawmill A new sawmill, the construction of which, it is understood, will commence immediately, will be erected at Hou Hou (near Three Mile, Hokitika). Holiday Travel With the commencement of the school holidays, passenger traffic on the Midland railway is heavy today. There were 250 passengers on the express when it left Greymouth for Christchurch, but more than double that number will arrive from Christchurch this afternoon. A special express, due at 3 p.m., will have approximately 320 passengers, while there are about 340 on the usual express, due at 4.28. Visitors for the Greymouth Competitions Society’s festival, which will open on Monday, assisted to make necessary the provision of a relief west-bound express.
