Forest Fires In France
Reuter’s Paris correspondent . says that the great forest fire which has swept the vast pine forests of Landes, in south-western France, for two days, was under control tonight, but a new outbreak ringed, the hills to the northeast of Nice. The mass mobilisation of villagers in threatened areas stamped out the blaze, which was finally halted at Roquefort, about 'l5 niiles north-east of Mont de Marsan. —London, August 16.
