Australian Coal Strike Act
The Federal Attorney-General (Dr H V Evatt) today announced the repeal of the Emergency Coal Strike Act, under which the funds of unions were frozen to prevent, assistance being given to the mine strikers. Dr Evatt said that the repeal would, not prejudice actions pending under the act The statute had been without precedent in the legislative history of Australia, but had been supported by an overwhelming majority.—Canberra, August 17.
