REEFTON First Homes Now Being Built On New State Area
REEFTON, This Day (0.C.).-The first homes of the projected 120 State units which are to be built on the Chattockville area near Reef ton. are now well under way. Of the tour homes commenced on the racecourse frontage two have been roofed and the foundations, for another are now down. ■ The contractors have also commenced work on the foundation of the first homes to be built on the Bullei road frontage of the new area. Water supply and drainage are to be provided from the Reefton. township mains, and the block eventually will be completely roaded. There is provision also in the plans for a playing field,' With special sections for children. PERSONAL Mr R, V. McKane, who has been engaged as camp manager for the Otago Sounds scientific expedition has completed his task for this season, and is on leave from the Forestry Department. He is visiting his mother at Reef ton. Mr A. P. Watson has been visiting Christchurch, where he attended the Governor-General’s investiture. His son, Lieutenant Aubrey Watson received the M.B.E. FIRE BRIGADE BALL As usual much interest is. being taken by the dancing public in the annual Fire Brigade ball, which is to be held tomorrow night. The brigade and the women’s committee has completed arrangements, with special decorations. The belle of the ball contest is to be held again this year, and a fine trophy is offered.
