DRIVER’S LUCKY ESCAPE: CAR STRUCK BY TRAIN
ASHBURTON, This Day (P.A.).—An addition to Ashburton’s long list of crossing accidents occurred this morning when the slow train from Christchurch struck a car at the Racecourse road crossing/ The car was thrown 48ft and was completely wrecked. The driver, Gordon Meredith Tractor,' a. - drover, of Dorie, had a remarkable escape, and was admitted to hospital with injuries described as “moderately serious,” though the full extent of his injuries have not yet been ascertained. ' „
