Connolly In Form

Reports from Southland indicate that Leo Connolly, the former All Black and Otago player, is fast regaining the form that earned him his place in the 1947 New Zealand team for Australia. While in Otago Connolly was one of the best forwards in the province and represented the South Island during 1943, 1944 and 1946 before he was transferred back to Invercargill. He played for Southland in 1947 and after representing the South Island was selected for the All Blacks •to tour Australia. He was unable to play for Southland last year because of a foot injury, but has quickly regained his best form this, season and is being tipped as the likely man to take over J; Mcßae’s, job of pack leader. Connelly first played for Southland just after the outbreak of war when he was only 18, and he has appeared for the South Island three times.
