GOLF RECORD ROUND BY J. N. THOMAS: TWO UNDER PAR

J.' N. Thomas with 73 gross, two strokes under par, recorded the best score for some seasons in winning the senior Stableford bogey match at the Greymouth Golf Club’s links at Kaiata on Saturday. S. E. Cox 74 (one under) and B. W. Caulton 75 (par figures) also returned excellent cards. The best scores were:—

The Greymouth Club visited Hokitika during the week-end to play the Hokitika Gtflf Club in the first of home-and-home inter-club matches. In both the men’s and women’s divisions the home club finished one point ahead. The Greymouth senior men won seven games and Hokitika five. The junior men won 4| games and Hokitika 7|. The Greymouth women won 5£ games and Hokitika 61.

Close Scores In Women’s Medal Matches

On Saturday at the Kaiata links the Greymouth Women’s Golf Club played the mid-monthly medal match for May. On the countback in the Silver division, Mrs Wilkins with a score of 76 (90-14) won from Mrs Hannan 76 (93-17). The next best scores- were Mrs Hooper 77 (86-9), and Mrs Chivers 79 (97-18). The best results in the Bronze division were:—Mrs Batty 70 (98-28), Mrs Francis 71 (107-36), .Mrs Bluett 77 (103-26), and Mrs Taylor 77 (11336). C. Division: Mrs A. Thompson 78 nett, returned the best score in the first round of the Caulton trophy, followed by Mrs Stopforth 80, Mrs Jefcoate 83, and Mrs Muschamp 84. The first round of the RobertsonNeville foursome played recently was won by Mrs Neville and Mrs Boustridge with a score of 77 (106-29). Other good cards were returned by Miss Taaffe and Mrs McKay 78 (10224), Mrs Hutchison and Mrs Wallis 78’(104-26), and Mrs McCarthy and Mrs Logan 78 (106-28). On Wednesday the L.G.U. division will play a bisque bogey match. WAIT AHU CLUB The second round of the Humpries Cup, played during the week-end at the Waitahu links (Reefton) resulted as follows:—

Jensen beat Rosanowski; Patterson beat August; Watts beat Porter; Humphries beat Osborne; Weir beat Woods; Archer beat Panckhurst; Blackadder beat Yellowlees; Harris beat Ross; Wilson beat Penington.

Third round.—Barnett beat Gilsenan. In a medal match best cards were returned by Ross and Cartwright each with 66 net. In the Cunningham Cup match D. Blackadder beat E. Dobson.

Handicap reductions: Ross 30 to 26, Cartwright 25 to 22, Weir 21 to 20, J. Blackadder 30 to 28. Officers Elected
