SEVERAL RUSSIAN OFFICIALS REMOVED FROM POSTS
(Rec. 12.35 p.m.) MOSCOW, March 14. The Council of Nationalities—the Soviet Senate—has approved the removal from office of several high Soviet officials. The Associated Press correspondent says that the secretary of' the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, Mr Alexei Gorkin, announced at a meeting of the council that Mr N. A. Voznesensky had been freed from his posts as chairman of the State Planning Commission and vice-chair-man of the Council of Ministers of the U.S.S.R. Mr Gorkin also announced that Mr M. E. Saburov, vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers, had been appointed chairman of the State Planning Commission of the U.S.S.R. The council approved the changes. It also removed from their posts Mr Ivan Golyakov, president of the U.S.S.R. Supreme Court, and Mr Georgi Popkov, member of the Presidium of the U.S.S.R. Mr Popkov was replaced by Mr A. M. Andriavanov.
